Wonder if your building or business facility is as secure as it can be? Simple steps can greatly increase the safety of your property and personnel:
Shrubs: Trees and shrubs flourish in spring—just around the corner—and alongside your business, they look lovely at their fullest. But, unfortunately, they also could provide a handy place for an intruder to hide. Be sure to trim back extra branches and leaves from the side of your building.
Lighting: It may seem obvious, but just as you check your smoke detectors on a regular basis, do the same for your exterior lighting. Make sure all appropriate bulbs and motion detectors are functioning and replaced when needed, and ensure that lighting covers all dark spots along your property.
Doors: Individuals who move in and out of the building frequently, either on smoke breaks or throughout the course of regular business, often prop open doors to your facility. Is someone always keeping an eye on those doorways when this happens?
Windows: Is there an employee inside the building working near all windows that are opened for ventilation? Ensure that areas where windows are open are monitored, especially as the weather gets warmer.
Fencing: If you have a perimeter fence around your property, ensure that it’s inspected frequently for signs of tampering.
Need someone to take responsibility for these inspections? Having a dedicated security guard on patrol or at reception is, of course, one of the strongest deterrents to crime. For more information on the flexible & professional options DePaul Security provides, get in touch today.
