DePaul Industries isn’t your average outsourcing company. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to help people with disabilities to have the opportunity to work, and all of our business operations support this mission. While our organization has changed significantly since our founding in 1971, our evolution and growth have furthered our ability to employ more and more people with disabilities.
What is a disability? The definition may be broader than you think. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of an individual, a record of such an impairment, or being regarded as having such an impairment. Our employees may have one or more of a wide variety of conditions that create a barrier to employment, but they all have one thing in common: they are ready and willing to work.
In addition to employing people with disabilities in our staffing, security and consumer products divisions, we also employ individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through our Unified Workforce program. We're proud of our ability to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who face incredibly high barriers to employment, to achieve employment in the community.
We operate just like any other business, aiming to provide the best possible service to our customers and our employees. And the magic of our model is that the more our business grows, the more opportunities we can provide for people with disabilities in the communities in which we operate.
